The Skin Care Basics

Caring for our skin is so important to the overall appearance and health of our skin. Many people fail to take proper care of their skin until the signs of aging are present, which is not how it should be at all.

There are things you can do aside from beginning an anti-aging regimen long before that point has come, and this can actually prevent the appearance of aging from occurring before its time. Lionesse has some basic skin care tips to help you care for your skin properly, and ensure your skin is happy and healthy.

Cleansing
Cleansing your skin is one of the most important and basic aspects of skin care. Ensuring you cleanse twice per day will rid your skin of excess oil, dirt and pollution which has accumulated throughout the ongoings of your day, and keep your skin clear of breakouts and pimples. It can even help to ease and alleviate ongoing skin maladies, such as irritation, redness, oily skin and even psoriasis and eczema. Cleansing once in the morning upon waking up ensures your skin is free of the excess oil which was produced overnight, while providing you a clean canvas to work with as far as cosmetic application goes. Cleansing once at night after makeup removal ensures all traces of cosmetics are completely washed away, and allows the skin to breathe and rejuvenate. It also gives your skin cells a boost to regenerate throughout the night. Be sure to opt for a gentle cleanser, and not use anything abrasive to the skin to avoid damaging your skin and causing fine lines and wrinkles.

Moisturizing
Moisturizing your skin is also essential when it comes to proper skin care. Giving your skin a daily dose of moisture ensures you won’t have dull, dried out skin, and therefore eliminates the itchy, irritated feeling that comes along with dry skin. Also – moisturizing cream provides the skin with a protective barrier to trap dirt, dust, debris, and pollutants from entering into your pores, which could in turn end up causing you breakouts. Some moisturizing creams provide your skin with sun protection as well, therefore giving you a boost in terms of protection. There are day creams and night creams, and creams specific to your particular skin type. Ensuring you are using products that are formulated for your type of skin will give you the best outcome overall.

Makeup Removal
Makeup removal is exceptionally important for women, because for every night you go to bed with makeup still sitting on your skin, you are aging your skin by two days’ time! That’s a pretty astounding figure considering you hold the power of anti-aging in that respect in your own hands. Using makeup removing pads, wipes, or solution to remove all traces of cosmetics before your nightly cleanse will ensure you get all of the deep down product within your pores out of your pores and off your face before hitting the bed at night.

Exfoliation
Exfoliating your skin once or twice per week is an important aspect of skin cell regeneration. The skin that sits atop of your body is essentially dead skin, and needs to be removed once per week to bring the fresh, new regenerated skin forward and to the surface, giving you a healthy glow. Body exfoliation can be completed by using a body scrub, pumice stone, or even by dry brushing. Facial exfoliation should never be completed with any sort of abrasive scrub, even though there are plenty of brands which have scrub products available for the face. When it comes to facial exfoliation, always try to opt for a face polish which gently removes the dead skin by completing small circles all over the face, or by using facial peels or masks. Facial exfoliation should be completed once or twice per week.
