How to Prevent Acne on Face
Preventing Acne on Face: The Must Knows
There are different kinds of skin problems and issues. However, one of the most common types of skin diseases is acne. Acne will surely top the list as it happens to be one of the most common skin problems that women face around the globe. The problem with acne is that it’s long term and unless treated doesn’t go till you attain middle age. Most of us have had acne from the time we remembered it and while one of the main causes of acne is oily skin, acne can be treated.
Though there are various creams, lotions and medications easily available in the market to cure acne, it is always better to prevent it in the first place itself. Let us understand how to prevent acne on face and avoid the complications associated with it.
Keep the face clean
Regardless of the fact as to what your skin type is, you must always keep it clean by washing it twice daily. This will help remove all types of impurities, oil build-up, make up and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin which if left unattended for long might result in acne. Always use lukewarm water to wash your face and not hot water. Also use a mild cleanser instead of a harsh soap. Never scrub your face too harshly with a loofah or exfoliating glove and use your bare hands only.
Moisturize the face
Always moisturize the face after washing it as this eliminates the chances of the skin getting dry or peeling off. Use products which are ‘noncomedogenic’ in nature as they never cause acne in the future. Also, choose a moisturizer which specifically suits your skin type be it oily, dry or combination skin.
Apply less makeup
If you experience a breakout, avoid using any kind of makeup be it a foundation, powder or a simple blush-on. In case you have to wear make-up, be sure to wash it off at the end of the day or it might irritate your skin and cause skin problems if left overnight. Choose oil-free cosmetics over all others as they do not contain harmful chemicals or added dyes. Always read the ingredients before buying any skincare product.
Use hair products carefully
When you apply hair products which contain different fragrances, oils, gels or pomades, it is possible that they might get to your face, especially in the shower and block the skin pores and irritate it immensely. This is why you should be careful when choosing hair products and always use mild products which neither harm your hair nor your face. Oily hair makes the skin oily too so shampoo your hair 2-3 times a week.
Avoid sun rays
Sun rays can cause extensive damage to your face as they increase inflammation, redness, cause irritation and easily lead to breakouts. Avoid the sun rays between 10am to 4 pm as they are the strongest during this time and also wear protective clothing such as full-sleeves clothes, hat and scarves whenever you step out of the house during the day. Apply a sunscreen lotion to protect the skin from sun exposure at least 20 minutes before you leave home.
